was founded 1882 by Miss Ebba Boström. It is a Diaconia Institution where Deaconesses and Deacons have been trained since 1893. Then they all were nurses. Today the work at the institution is diaconal as always although in various fields.

The Guesthome receives guests from all over the world. For various reasons persons want to overnight in Uppsala.

Patient Hotel Duvan (The Dove) - receives patients and relatives coming from all Sweden and some from abroad. The patients get treatment at the University Hospital for eg. cancer and are not in need of a hospitalbed but rather a place to live in for 6-10 weeks. At the Dove they get a more homelike living than at a hospital.
Open house Gränden - is from 2006 part of Uppsala Stadsmission and a meetingplace for people of different generations, backrounds and needs. Cafeteria, rooms for activities like weaving on looms, studygroups, reading, sewing, painting - hobbyworks, training of volunteers, social counselling.

Kungsängsgården - an alternative living for retired people in Uppsala. The tenants live in their own flats and receive service motivated by the individual needs. The home is situated close to almost everything you might need.

Ebbagården, Samariterhemmet Groupliving for people with certain demental illnesses. There are 27 persons living in a house with three floors. Each floor have nine tenants who live in their own rooms and share sittingrooms and kitchen.

Mariehem is a restored old wooden house and a nice place close to a small lake some 16 kms from Uppsala. It is used for outings, groupmeetings.

Volunteers in diaconal work are needed at Diakonistiftelsen Samariterhemmet.
About 150 are already involved at the Uppsala Stadsmission, Gränden, Duvan, Kungsängsgården, women´s group, the Church, aso.

The Sister-and Brotherhood of Deacons has 375 members from Deacons trained at Samariterhemmet.
